TTems secures bright start to new year with Baldor contract

Baldor UK Ltd, the industry leader in motion control products, and a division of Baldor Electric Co. Arkansas, USA, has appointed TT ems as its UK strategic partner for the manufacturing and management of Baldor's advanced motion control products.

The manufacturing services contract will see TT ems build Baldor's single phase power stages as used on their FlexDriveII, Flex+DriveII and MintDriveII range of AC Servo Drives at its facility in Rogerstone, South Wales. In addition, the contract also includes the manufacturer of Baldor latest product, MicroFlex, a new generation AC Servo Drive.

The agreement was secured against fierce competition following Baldor's newly implemented strategy of reducing its list of electronic manufacturing suppliers and consolidating the single phase drives in the UK from Germany.

The strategic significance of these products to both parties is recognised by the fact that Baldor is projecting that the sales increases seen throughout 2002 will continue, with TT ems playing a central role in helping it achieve its future growth.

Graham Davies, divisional director for TT ems facilities, says: "Working in partnership is central to the TT ems way of doing business. This is perhaps best exemplified by the way Baldor uses us as an extension of their own facility and will bring their customers to visit us as part of the extensive services they offer. This brings the two companies much closer which shows the confidence that has developed by having an open and trusting relationship."

Dave Westley, Purchasing Manager, Baldor UK Ltd, says: "TT ems provide us with a total solution including its ability to manage the demands of different product variants and provision of project engineering and procurement support through regular on-site meetings . We look forward to developing our future business with their support."
