TTElectronics Manufacturing Services provider TT ems - located in Rogerstone (Wales), welcomed Dr Chris Young, Chief Executive of the Welsh Electronics Forum, to its Rogerstone site yesterday to congratulate TT ems on its successful achievement of the automotive standard ISO/TS16949:2002.
Technical specification ISO/TS 16949 was developed by the automotive industry to create an internationally accepted standard for the automotive industry. Key benefits of registration include improved product and process quality, the reassignment of supplier resources to quality improvement, and a common quality system approach in the supply chain for supplier/subcontractor development and consistency.
TT ems began implementing procedures for the quality award in February 2003. The registration audit was performed by a local branch of global verification, testing and certification company, SGS. Final registration was achieved in February 2004 following a particularly successful initial audit during which no non-conformances were identified. The certificate was presented to TT ems yesterday by Jim Weaver on behalf of SGS Bridgend office.
Phil Lawrence, Director and General Manager of TT ems Rogerstone, says:
"The automotive industry is one of many industries that TT ems serves, and ISO/TS16949 is recognised as an international standard for business management systems. We are thrilled that the Welsh Electronics Forum has supported TT ems' commitment to the standard by attending our award presentation today."
Dr Chris Young, Chief Executive of the Welsh Electronics Forum, commented:
"The Welsh Electronics Forum's main objective is to promote Welsh electronics companies as serious competitors within the industry. It is initiatives such as the award received by TT ems today that helps Welsh electronics companies to achieve this."
